If I Only Had a Brain ...

It took a few to come up with this funny display

Kent Gardella of Napa Valley Jewelers, Napa, CA, wanted to graphically display in his windows the concept that men and women see things differently, particularly when it comes to giving gifts.

He developed an idea showing a female brain next to a male brain, then displayed a gift that each might choose under these themes: practical, durable, comfortable and traditional. Under the woman's brain, he showed jewelry. Under the man's brain, he showed a coffeemaker (practical), frying pan (durable), slippers (comfortable) and perfume (traditional). The most difficult part was finding the brains. He found them in a costume shop about 60 miles away.

Gardella says two or three people came into the store each day to comment on his windows. Brains, indeed.
