Lapidary operation meets international quality standards

Golay Buchel, a Swiss-based manufacturer and distributor of diamonds, colored stones, cultured pearls and synthetic stones, has obtained ISO 9001 certification for its precision-cut cubic zirconia operation.

"To my knowledge, we are the first lapidary operation worldwide to qualify for ISO 9001 certification," says Pierre-Alain Kohler, head of the company's synthetic stone division.

Certification is based on the coordination of high quality standards in all areas of operation, including manufacturing, purchasing, research and development, sales and services, and administration, as set by the International Standard Organization. The intergovernmental organization is made up of committees that officially establish standards for every industry. ISO 9001 sets requirements for businesses involving design, development, production, installation and servicing.

Golay Buchel's precision-cut cubic zirconia are marketed under the brand name Favorite ®. Golay Buchel USA Ltd., New York, NY 10036; (212) 221-8234, fax (212) 221-6876, www. golaybuchel.com.
