Exhibit raises consumers' awareness

More than 100,000 people renewed their fascination with diamonds this winter in the first two months of "The Nature of Diamonds," the premier exhibit at the American Museum of Natural History, New York City.

The exhibit, sponsored by the Diamond Information Center on behalf of De Beers, opened on Nov. 1 and reached the six-figure visitation mark by early January. Attendance was especially high during the holidays (17,487 people visited during the week of New Year's Eve alone). The exhibit runs through April 26.

Drawing media coverage in the world's top newspapers and fashion magazines and on NBC's "Today" show, the exhibit also attracted the attention of celebrities (including talk show host Regis Philbin and Harper's Bazaar Editor Liz Tilberis) and leading industry members (including Henri Barguirdijian of Van Cleef & Arpels, Robert DiNicola of Zale Corp. and Antoinette Oppenheimer of the De Beers family) at its gala events.
