iQVC TO LAUNCH WEB STORE

Got the Web? If your customers do, they could soon be buying jewelry from iQVC's new on-line jewelry store at www.gemsandjewels.com instead of from you. The new Web site is one of the first in-store specialty boutiques the on-line retailer plans to open in 1998. The site features thousands of designs, including designer jewelry by Judith Jack, Kenneth Jay Lane, Nolan Miller and Joan Rivers. Products are shown as fashion slide shows or on a "velvet viewing pad," and items for sale are accompanied by special editorial content about jewelry. The site will include a style adviser to customize jewelry choices to a customer's lifestyle. The World Gold Council has joined with iQVC to develop a quiz that educates consumers about gold on the site.
