AWI To Host WOSTEP Tests
Part of effort to centralize testing process in North America
The American Watchmakers/Clockmakers Institute will be the official testing
site for all U.S. and Canadian watchmaking students finalizing studies certified
by the Watchmakers of Switzerland Training and Education Program, known
as WOSTEP.
The week-long test is given to students who complete the 3,000-hour WOSTEP
program in any of only a few WOSTEP-certified U.S. and Canadian schools.
The next test will be in June, '99.
William Ewbank, executive director of the AWI, says WOSTEP Director Antoine
Simonin agreed to the arrangement in part to centralize the U.S. testing
process at a "neutral" location, rather than shifting it among
watchmaking schools.
