Mexican Tariffs Are Gone
Effective last month, watch producers may export watches assembled in
Mexico to the U.S. and pay no duty. Under the North American Free Trade
Agreement, duties on primarily quartz analog watches have been eliminated
and are equivalent to the same no-tariff agreement the U.S. has had with
Canada.
Thus far no company has announced Mexican-based production, but with
potentially strong cost advantages, don't rule it out.
