Two Tones for Men

Sporty and sophisticated jewelry designs in a variety of metals make style statements for men

Yellow gold is still the metal of choice for men's jewelry, though a white/yellow mix is proving to be a tough competitor. "Our sales of two-tone men's jewelry have increased 60%-70% over the past year," says Jeff Shapiro, vice president of Suberi Bros., New York City.

Two-tone jewelry goes with everything, from suits to sweats, and offers a variety of metal mixes, usually yellow gold with white gold, platinum or stainless steel.

Occasionally, a designer adds a sprinkle of gemstones or swash of enamel for color and character. "Dark green tourmaline or rhodolite garnet just pop against a white metal," says Heidi Hart, general manager of Michael Good Designs, Rockport, ME.

This jewelry also makes gift-buying easy – there's something to suit every man's interests and tastes. From golf ball cuff links to animal motifs, the industry has created something to satisfy the whim of any man.
