Let It Snow

A portable snowfall simulator brings windows and showcases to life

Half the fun of holiday shopping is gawking like a child at the tiny wonderlands in store windows. If you're scrambling for new show-stoppers this year, one company has introduced a way to animate your windows and display cases.

Snowmaker Productions Inc. offers a patented snowfall simulator that produces a realistic snowfall effect. The portable, electric unit is 48 inches long and weighs five pounds so it can hang in any display case. A full unit can sprinkle artificial snow for 24 to 36 hours before it requires refilling. It also works with other materials such as fall leaves, confetti and flowers.

The company also manufactures snowing display cases made of solid oak with automatically refilling snow machines.

The portable unit is $225 and the basic showcases start at $1,950, with vacuum systems and snowmakers available at additional cost.
