Who Buys Japanese Watch Exports?

Japanese watch exports increased 9% to 669 million units in 1998. However, the value of the country's watch exports dropped 4%, in part because of reduced movement prices.

 

 

 

 

 

 


The production of analog quartz watches in Japan grew 15% in 1998. Made largely for export, these analogs accounted for 77% of watch production worldwide, up 5% from 1997. Regarding digital watches, Japanese production fell 1%, but sales increased slightly. Figures in millions.
