Affordable Pink Fancy
A major manufacturer creates a line of pink diamond jewelry
Suna Bros. Inc. is producing a line of jewelry that may allow many more
retailers to introduce fancy pink diamonds to their customers.
The company, based in New York City, is one of several manufacturers
the Argyle mine in Australia has chosen to distribute its fancy pink melee
diamonds in the U.S.
Suna developed the new line over the past year. "When we started,
we experimented setting the diamonds directly in white metal and found it
overpowered the small diamonds," says Jonathan Suna. Then the company
struck on the idea of setting the pink diamonds in pink gold bezels in the
platinum. "That really sets off the diamonds," he says.
His company came up with three collections that debuted at the May Couture
Collection & Conference. The collections include melee pink and white diamonds
set in platinum and pink gold earrings, pendants and rings. "This collection
is for everyday wear," says Diane Vunic, the company's director of
sales and marketing. "But it's also fancy enough to be worn into an
elegant evening." Prices weren't set at press time.
The second collection fancier and with larger diamonds features
such items as pavé hearts and starfish pins.
The most exclusive collection includes one-of-a-kind jewels with larger
pavé and more saturated pink diamonds.
