Watch Sales Rise

Jewelers of America survey finds an average 5% increase in watch sales

Platinum and diamonds led the way in sales increases in jewelry stores in 1998, but watch sales grew a healthy 5%, according to a survey by Jewelers of America.

The survey – which reported sales overall and also broke them into two subcategories (stores with overall increases and stores with overall decreases) – showed watch sales rose nearly 20% for stores with overall increases. Here are the figures that show how watches fared compared to other categories.
