New watches, from pure jewelry to dive instruments


There’s something for every consumer among the watches introduced last month at trade shows in Basel and Geneva, Switzerland. Divers, flyers and those who value beauty in design and materials all have something to see. This month we showcase some introductions designed for these watch enthusiasts.

Movado’s Eliro Manchette adds diamonds to the already dressy style. It’s available with mirror dial and diamond markers or mother-of-pearl dial and sapphire or diamond markers. The high-polish stainless steel bracelet with fold-under safety deployment clasp is standard. Women’s size only.

Blancpain’s new Fifty Fathoms watch dives to 985 feet with a screw-locked crown and case back and a 3mm-thick scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. It’s also fitted with a two-barrel, extra-slim automatic movement with a 100-hour power reserve.

Jules Jurgensen’s new Urban Jurgensen Swiss 2000 Master collection features solid stainless steel watches with sapphire crystals and 23k gold overlay. Shown is the Chopin model. Available in men’s and women’s sizes at $510 triple keystone.

From Pulsar’s new Eurostyle Collection, these watches feature rectangular cases and curved crystals. The men’s model on the right features a calfskin strap, titanium case and matching buckle. The other two watches are steel. All of the watches are $130 suggested retail.

Clerc’s new rugged CXX chronograph is an automatic annual calendar that needs adjustment only on Feb. 28. A large double-date indicator is new for Clerc. The watch is water-resistant to 990 feet and includes a natural rubber strap.

Rado's new Xeramo, a casual watch made of high-tech ceramic, features a cambered sapphire crystal, screwdown crown and, in the large model, a date indicator at 12 o'clock. Ceramic bracelet or leather strap models are available.

The Ikepod Hemipode Grande Date is a chronograph housed in a one-piece case designed by Marc Newson. It’s fitted with a Dubois Dépraz 4500 automatic movement and features traditional chronograph indications, a large date window, double-sided antiglare crystal and a black rubber strap.
