Dripping With Diamonds

Accessorize with cool confidence

As shorter or upswept hair becomes even more popular, diamond drop earrings are a perfect way to frame a face. Add to this the number of celebrities now wearing drop earrings – and commonfolk’s attention to what the stars wear – and you have good reason to check your inventory. “Oprah Winfrey started wearing round and pear drop earrings on her show, and now we can’t keep them in stock,” says David Levy, manager of Adasco Designs, New York City.

The same is true of drop pendants, which are ideally suited to today’s plunging necklines, like the ones celebrities have worn to recent award ceremonies.

Professional women in their late 20s and early 30s are a prime target for drop jewelry styles. “These women have better paying jobs than ever before and are asking for D-H/VS-SI diamonds totaling 2-3 carats,” says Levy.

Round stud earrings with a detachable pear or oval dangle are classic. For the more adventurous, suggest a princess-cut stud with bullet or kite dangle.

To show off these beauties, let them dangle from an earring display. Go for an add-on or future purchase by displaying them with a matching pendant.
