What's on your wrist reveals more than time

More than a few new timepiece models are hard to miss – many are so large they demand attention. Also expect more petite models this year as thin gold watches reappear. Whatever the size, they will help your customers make a statement about style and image. These new watches, and others with distinctive shapes and colors, will be ready for your store in 2002.

Oakley’s Bullet features a case and crown of injection-molded titanium enveloped in a flexible synthetic rubber strap. It also has an ETA quartz movement, sapphire crystal with antireflective coating, battery end-of-life indicator and 330 feet of water resistance. The dial is available in three colors. Suggested retail, $750.

The Road Warrior 2.0 from Festina has an “international racing yellow” dial, unidirectional bezel, alarm and water resistance to 330 feet. It’s sold with steel bracelet ($269 retail) or leather strap ($229).

The Deco Color line from the Deco Collection is accented with colored gems and diamonds. This model has 108 diamonds and pink sapphires. Others have black diamonds or blue sapphires. All come with a mother-of-pearl dial and alligator strap. Suggested retail, $1,495.

The Fendi Baby Collection features contoured 18k goldplated or steel women’s watches designed to hug the wrist. They have mirrored hands and sapphire crystals and are available with dial and leather straps in various hues.

The five watches in Swatch’s new “X-Large” collection are 44mm in diameter, feature leather straps and are $50 retail.

The water-resistant Tascale F104 pocket watch is based on the popular F104 wristwatch introduced last year. The steel watch echoes the industrial design of its namesake and uses the same manual wind Unitas 6497 movement. The decorated movement is visible through the clear glass back.
