Sapphire Spectrum

So many different shades, not enough education

Consumers love the variety and blend of color available in sapphire. However, many automatically think “blue” when it comes to this gemstone, so keep yellow, pink and green varieties on hand too. When educating customers about sapphire, explain how durable this gemstone is regardless of hue. Show them the non-traditional colors can exhibit brilliance too. “We’re in a retro and romantic time, and different colors allow people to individualize their jewelry more,” says Pam Ford, director of sales and marketing at G.J. Designs, Sarasota, FL.
