Basel for Women

Watch introductions at this year's show comprise a diverse selection for feminine wrists

Manufacturers are having fun fitting the female wrist with fine timepieces. Here are models introduced at BaselWorld in April that have new features of technical and aesthetic note in a wide range of tastes and prices.

Seiko softens the edges of its Vivace, inspired by shapes and textures of the seashore. Six of the 15 new models have a frosted finish; some models also have eight diamonds on a patterned dial (shown). Retail prices range from $295 up to $825 for a 20-diamond model. All bracelets use deployant buckles with push-button release.

The stainless steel case on the new Fendi Slide allows the wearer to slip any of five colorful straps (included) through the case for different looks. The case is curved, and the dial is mother-of-pearl or mirror. Suggested retail, $495.

Breguet offers this Classique Grande Complication among several complication watches created for women. Fitted with its own tourbillon, this white gold manual-wind model is set at the bezel and lugs with 73 diamonds and has a hand-turned guilloche dial with mother–of-pearl inset showing the numerals. Power reserve is about 50 hours. Suggested retail, $74,500.

Only this year, the 10th anniversary of the Rado Sintra model, the brand offers 500 women’s TenTation versions with 12 blue sapphires on the white mother-of-pearl dial. The case and bracelet are made of Rado’s extra-hard ceramic. Five hundred men’s models are available also. Suggested retail, $2,400.

Designed in Italy, the fashion-forward Lady Gio from Lancaster Time features a stainless steel case with 50 diamonds and a Swiss movement. Suggested retail, $550.

Tissot’s new Iris draws on the design of a 1948 model. Made in 18k gold, the bracelet expands at the two ends to fit tightly around the case. The silvered dial features applied gold numerals.
