New jewelry follows the latest color trends

A new joint venture is creating diamond and colored gem jewelry targeted at customers of independent jewelers. The company, Augusta De Carolis, was created by the Licastro brothers of Italy and the Shah brothers of India, owners of the CM Group, a Diamond Trading Co. client. “The concept is to create a design house to be recognized in the marketplace and create jewelry that is recognized on the wearer,” says Giovanni Licastro, designer for Augusta De Carolis, Valenza, Italy, and New York City.

The company has 20 collections in all. Each one is handmade and crafted in 18k white or yellow gold. “We use only G color diamonds, and our colored gemstones are natural and cut specifically for each piece,” he says. “We have people who pick diamonds for our jewelry stone by stone.” Suggested retail prices for jewelry in any of the 20 collections ranges from $800-$12,000.

The Collections

“Our collections do not follow jewelry trends. They follow fashion trends,” says Licastro. “This is where you see the hot colors for each season. The trends show us what will be in stores, and we create jewelry to accessorize those looks. It makes our jewelry unique.”

Here are descriptions of some of the collections:

  • Ellissi jewelry is inspired by the shape of a mathematical figure and highlighted with pavé diamonds and colored gemstones.
  • The Sea Life collection features such underwater dwellers as a large octopus that finds a home on a ring set with gemstones depicting the colors of the sea.
  • The Trends in Color collection of small jewelry features gemstones such as citrine, blue topaz, garnet, amethyst, iolite and peridot. Diamond accents add pizzazz.
  • The Infinity collection is inspired by the infinity sign, embodied in the phrase: “If you receive this jewelry as a present it represents you and me forever.”

New to the U.S., Augusta De Carolis is creating marketing and promotion materials for the trade only. As the company grows and becomes more recognizable, reaching consumers will be the next goal, it says. These jewelry creations can be found also in Italy, the Middle East and the Caribbean. The line has been tailored for independent jewelers and exclusive department stores such as Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue.
