New timepieces for the holiday sales season

Not all new watches debut in spring.

Many companies now make a point of unveiling one or more new pieces just in time for the December sales season. Here are a few prominent debuts.

The Beluga Tonneau from Ebel is now more slender. It has a mother-of-pearl dial and diamond markers and is sold with or without two rows of diamonds on the bezel. Steel or 18k gold case and bracelet and leather strap models are available.

Ebel, Paramus, NJ; (201) 267-8000, www.ebel.com.

Idéale is a new line of women’s watches from Jaeger-LeCoultre. Suggestive of the company’s Duoplan models of the 1950s and earlier, Idéale features diamonds on the flexible lugs and is available with diamonds on the steel or gold case and bracelet. Retail prices start at $3,750 for steel-and-strap model with diamonds.

Frédérique Constant debuts two limited-edition watches to commemorate its sponsorship of Healey automobile clubs.

This limited edition is made in gold (99 pieces) and in steel (888 pieces). The watches are built around the automatic ETA Valjoux 7750 chronograph caliber and are delivered in a wooden box with a dark green Austin Healey miniature.

S.A. Kitsinian, a gold and platinum jewelry maker, adds a high-end Swiss watch brand called Alain Philippe. The colorful line features 18k gold and diamond watches in nine collections and with round, tonneau and rectangular cases. Suggested retail, $5,000 to $35,000.

The new Baume & Mercier Vice-Versa is as much bracelet as timepiece. When it’s worn with the buckle facing up, the wearer sees one to 12 diamonds in the polished surface. When it’s worn with the dial up, the strap covers the rectangular case until moved to check the time. Available with white or black strap. Suggested retail, $795 to $1,695.

This stainless steel and black chrome chronograph from Elini is placed in a rectangular case and powered by an ETA quartz movement. Three models are available, one with no diamonds, one with diamonds on the bezel and one with diamonds on the bezel and bracelet. Retail prices start at $899.

Elini, Miami, FL; (877) ELINIUS, www.elini.com.
