Pocket Watch Takes Flight at Antiquorum Auction |
|
This is one of four highly complicated Breitling pocket watches that sold as a set for $770,992 in October at an Antiquorum auction. The one-of-a kind pieces (made for the auction) took three years to make and were derived from century-old movement blanks found in Breitling archives. On the back of each watch is a gold medallion that commemorates the first flight of the Wright Brothers on Dec. 17, 1903. Next year look for grande complication watches dedicated to the Bentley automobile. Breitling, Wilton, CT; (203) 762-1180, www.breitling.com.
