Taking their cues from entertainment and sport figures, more men are draped in diamonds

Thanks to role models as diverse as Prince Charles, Tony Soprano, P. Diddy, Michael Jordan and David Beckham, the message is clear: diamonds are for every man. Add diamond cuff links to business apparel and any man can look like a prince. Diamond ear studs, bracelets or neckwear influenced by the music or sports worlds will boost a guy’s hipness quotient. Tasteful diamond rings, no matter the size, are for men in any business, say suppliers. “Men’s jewelry shows how cool or sophisticated a man can be,” says Sarah Allouch of Baroka Creations, New York City. However, where you live will dictate what style will sell. “Up to 1 carat of diamonds sells everywhere. It’s the metal that changes. Yellow gold is stronger in the Midwest while white and two-tone gold joins yellow on the East and West coasts.”

If your male customers seem unable to accept more traditional diamond and gold jewelry, try carrying black diamonds or jewelry made with steel, titanium, platinum, rubber or leather accents, suggests a recent New York Times article noting the boom in men’s interest in diamond jewelry.
