April 2005 Merchandise | Gemstones Smithsonian Star Jeffrey Bilgore LLC, New York City, donated this 16.21-ct. Sri Lankan star ruby to the Smithsonian Institution’s National Gem Collection in February. The gem has a translucent light red body color and exhibits a strong, sharp star. It’s the second largest star ruby in the collection, after the 138-ct. Rosser Reeves Ruby, but has a stronger and better defined star than the larger stone.
