Two early holiday shopping lists compiled by leading mall operators suggest continued consumer strength in the jewelry category. Compiled from shopper surveys, the lists were sent to news organizations in anticipation of the shopping season.

General Growth Properties of Chicago, IL, which operates 121 regional malls in the U.S., notes special interest in diamonds, alexandrites, emeralds, costume jewelry, sterling silver rings, silver cigar cutters, arm cuffs and anklets.

Taubman Centers Inc. in Bloomfield Hills, MI, manager of 26 regional shopping centers, suggests interest in limited edition gold-decorated writing instruments, elegant music boxes, estate jewelry (brooches and white gold or platinum filigree pieces in particular) and nature-inspired jewelry.
