Ode to Elizabethan

You don't have to sell estate jewelry to pick up on a style inspired by two of this year's Academy Award nominees. The April issue of In Style says jewelry designers are using fanciful wirework and richly colored gemstones to recreate the Elizabethan look, a period featured in the films Shakespeare in Love and Elizabeth last year. Among the jewelry featured in the article were delicate necklaces and hair pins using gem and crystal beads, dangling earrings with pearl baubles, Gothic-style rings – and lots of yellow gold. These movies may spark the same interest in Renaissance looks that Titanic prompted in Edwardian jewelry.
