Daytime sensibilities, the logic of mathematics and New Year's Eve's wild celebrations separately influenced three of Fifth Avenue's venerable jewelry houses in New York City, as shown in a report on "Jewelry for 2000" on CNN. Van Cleef & Arpels will introduce floral and clover-themed diamond pieces versatile enough to be worn during the day and into the evening, it told the news network. Tiffany & Co.'s "Atlas" collection is about "the elegance of numbers," and H. Stern's "Fireworks," with white, yellow and cognac diamonds in chokers and long earrings, "scream New Year's Eve," according to company spokespeople. Also featured were Paloma Picasso's celestial collection for Tiffany and Cartier's Paris-inspired jewelry in yellow and white gold with pavé diamonds. - by Stacey King |
