Forget prim-and-proper pearl jewelry. Pearls have shed their ladylike image, say In Style writers Penney Proddow and Marion Fasel. "The new offerings are tough and sexy, with long lariats, dangling earrings and chain bracelets set with pearls in muted colors like pistachio, eggplant, black and gray," they write. Proddow and Fasel suggest women wear these pearl creations to accent daytime grays or with edgier black ensembles at night.
Featured in October's In Style are: a Tahitian pearl necklace with an 18k white gold clasp by Tamara Comolli, South Sea pearl earrings in 18k white gold and diamonds by Leslie & Penny for Penny Preville, Tahitian pearl earrings in 18k white gold and diamonds by Damiani, a pearl necklace with diamonds and 18k white gold by Cartier, a South Sea pearl bracelet in 18k white gold by Mikimoto and a South Sea pearl ring in 18k white gold and diamonds by Antonini.
