Americans Invade Vicenza Fair

Americans stormed Italian shores this year for the Vicenzaoro 1 Fair, held Jan. 10-17 in Vicenza, Italy.

More Americans – nearly 900 buyers, a 14% increase from last year – visited the fair than any other group of foreign buyers. American participation even topped high numbers of German attendee, another sign that jewelers had a healthy holiday season and have faith in the American economy for 1999.

Over 100 nations' buyers were represented at the Vicenza event, the first of three jewelry fairs held by the Vicenza Trade Fair Board in this small, northern Italian city. Vicenza is one of the three biggest jewelry manufacturing centers in Italy. The first Vicenza Fair each year traditionally introduces new jewelry designs for the year ahead.
