Oroarezzo Strikes Gold
White and yellow metals competed for attention at the Oroarezzo Fair in Arezzo, Italy, where more than 400 Italian manufacturers exhibited March 20-23.
Italian jewelry trends often precede American fashion, so overseas buyers took note that along with yellow gold's return, fewer two-tone and tri-color gold designs were featured than in past shows. Shiny surfaces and three-dimensional pieces had the biggest impact.
Other trends included large, puffy charms; geometric open-link, paperclip and graduated chain; slinky bracelets and big bangles; cutout rings and bracelets; hoop earrings in every size; and briolette, checkerboard and cabochon gems.
