Basel Watch Exhibitors Prepare
This week, Basel '99 exhibitors begin constructing their new booths and many watch manufacturers booths will have two or three floors inside the new main hall. This simplifies navigation for retailers, since two main exhibit floors replace the multiple rooms of the past.
To get a leg up on the leg work, consult the Basel Fairs web site for floor maps and an exhibitor list.
There will be about 80 watch manufacturers on the ground floor and 250 on the first floor. Ten exhibitors are creating booths with three levels and 60 are building two-story structures. Among the largest: Chopard, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Lange, Patek Philippe, Rolex, IWC and TAG Heuer, Blancpain, Breitling, Concord, Corum, Gucci and Raymond Weil. The central aisle leads to an area of Swatch Group brands, including the Basel debut of Hamilton and the return to the fair of Rado and Longines.
Most major jewelry and fashion watches will be on the first floor above the main hall. These include Boucheron, Chaumet, Christian Dior, Harry Winston, Hermes, Mauboussin and Van Cleef & Arpels.
