Ring Design Feature Added to DIC Web Site
The Diamond Information Center plans to add a "Design Your Own Engagement Ring" interactive feature to its Web site, www.adiamondisforever.com, later this month.
Using a step-by-step instructive process, consumers will choose type of metal, shape of center and side stones and other design criteria to design their ring. They can browse through a database of some 7,500 designs to get an idea of what they like. They can then save and print out their finished design to take to a jeweler or e-mail it to their significant others with personalized messages.
Ring manufacturers are invited to submit their designs for free to the on-line database. Each ring is identified with a source code, so retail jewelers can call the Diamond Promotion Service at (800) 370-6789 to find the manufacturer if a customer is searching for a ring she saw on-line.
GemVision of Bettendorf, IA, a manufacturer of design and point-of-sale visualization software for the jewelry industry, created the software that runs the design feature.
