GIA To Hold CareerFair
More than 60 leading jewelry companies say they have hundreds of jobs available at the Gemological Institute of America's ninth annual Jewelry CareerFair, to be held Aug. 4 at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City.
The program, which runs 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., will include recruiting, career counseling, seminars and workshops. The fair is free to all job seekers. Tiffany & Co., Hearts On Fire, Christie's, Zale Corp., H. Stern, C3 Inc., Henry Dunay, M. Fabrikant & Sons Inc., Ben Bridge, Fortunoff and Colombian Emeralds International are among the hiring companies already registered, and others were still signing up as of today.
Speakers featured in career seminars include designer Robert Lee Morris of Robert Lee Morris Design Studios, Laurie Hudson, president of Platinum Guild International, Ralph Joseph of the Jewelry Judge and Anthony Riggio of Tourneau. One-on-one career counseling will be available from gem and jewelry experts, including Lynn Diamond, executive director of Diamond Promotion Service, Tom Chatham of Chatham Inc., Norma Haas of ENH International Inc. and Michael O'Connor of Frederick Goldman Inc.
GIA's Jewelry CareerFair was founded by GIA and The 24 Karat Club of Southern California. Prime sponsors are National Jeweler magazine and Jewelers of America. Additional sponsors are JCK magazine and Professional Jeweler magazine, and affiliate sponsors include the Manufacturing Jewelers & Suppliers of America, Samuel Gordon Jewelers and the Johnson Family's Diamond Cellar.
