Supermodel Receives First Millennium Diamond

The De Beers Limited Edition Millennium Diamond Group, a group of 10 companies hand-picked by De Beers, unveiled the much-anticipated branded diamond program at a media event July 29.

Jewelry designer Scott Kay, the trade and technical spokesperson for the group, presented model and actress Heidi Klum with the first Millennium diamond, a 1.17-ct. diamond and platinum pendant designed by Kay. The diamond, valued at more than $20,000, was one of the 2,000 stones De Beers named after the brightest stars in the universe – Antares, no. 141 in the series. The name and number are microscopically inscribed on all diamonds in the series, together with the De Beers brandmark and Millennium logo.

The De Beers Limited Edition Millennium Diamond Group includes M. Fabrikant & Sons Inc., Leo Schachter & Co. Inc, Codiam Inc., Hasenfeld-Stein Inc., Rosy Blue and W.B. David Co.
