Mondera.com Snags Big Industry Names
The new on-line retail company founded by the Mouawad Group hired three diamond and jewelry industry veterans to head acquisition and merchandising operations.
Mondera.com appointed Mayer Herz as vice president of diamond acquisitions, Loretta Castoro as vice president of merchandising and gem acquisition and Terry Ianuale as vice president of merchandise. Herz is the former owner of M. Herz & Son in New York City and is treasurer of the New York Diamond Dealers Club. Castoro worked for 10 years at Tiffany & Co., most recently as director of colored stone acquisitions. Ianuale served as vice president of merchandising for M. Fabrikant & Sons in New York City for the past four years and previously was a buyer for Zale Corp., Fortunoff and the Mirage.
Cofounded by brothers Pascal and Fred Mouawad, the company launched its e-commerce site in early August and assembled a staff of industry leaders to manage the business. Mondera.com recently appointed Jim Kurtz, former director of on-line services for Cendant Corp., as president and Cheryl Kremkow, former editor in chief of Modern Jeweler, as head of the site's Learning Center.
