Zales, WeddingChannel.com Plan Web Site
Zale Corp. and WeddingChannel.com (www.weddingchannel.com) announced an e-commerce and marketing partnership to create and promote an on-line jewelry boutique starting with Zales Jewelers and eventually adding all stores in the jewelry chain's various divisions.
The site will assist couples and their wedding guests with jewelry purchases such as wedding bands, bridal party gifts and related items. Zale Corp. will incorporate WeddingChannel.com into related on-line and off-line promotional programs.
"The bridal market accounts for almost 40% of Zale Corp.'s overall sales," says Beryl Raff, president and CEO. "This agreement will deepen our relationship with our bridal customers."
According to Adam Berger, president of WeddingChannel.com, the partnership with Zale Corp. is part of a strategy to "selectively partner" with major retailers in the 20 or so segments comprising the $32 billion bridal market.
The new jewelry boutique will also include tips on proposing, information on cultural and ethnic traditions, and feature the best engagement stories. WeddingChannel.com will provide ideas for coordinating fashion and jewelry, says Raff.
Zale Corp. (www.zales.com), with 1,359 stores in North America plus its on-line operation, is the nation's largest jewelry specialty retailer. WeddingChannel.com, which offers Internet-based bridal services and merchandise, claims to have 900,000 registered brides and grooms.
