Meyer To Head POL
Charles "Chuck" Meyer has been appointed managing director of POL, distributor of the controversial diamonds whose color is enhanced by a processed developed by General Electric. POL is a subsidiary of Lazare Kaplan International.
As head of POL, Meyer, formerly president of Henry Meyer Diamond Co., New York City, will
be responsible for sourcing rough supply; manufacturing polished goods; supervising processing by GE; selecting and training retailers; and advertising, promoting and marketing the finished product.
Results of GE/POL test marketing in selected retail stores are being analyzed, and Meyer says the retailer base will be expanded, based on the findings. The diamonds were test marketed under the brand name "Monarch," but Meyer says it is only a working name and probably will be changed.
