Girard-Perregaux Opens U.S. Subsidiary

Swiss watch brands Girard-Perregaux and Daniel JeanRichard are now distributed in North America by Tradema of America, a subsidiary of their Swiss-based parent firm the Sowind Group.

Ron Jackson, who managed the brands since 1996, is manager of the new subsidiary, to be based in Rutherford, NJ. Tradema of America is the third Sowind division begun by owner Gino Macaluso. Divisions in Japan and Italy opened in 1997.

In addition to the highly regarded Swiss-made brands, the Sowind group consists of a movement manufacturer, a watch components maker and a marketing management division.

The two brands were formerly distributed by Swiss Primetime, which has been sold to jewelry firm entrepreneur Niklaus Bieri, who also owns Furrer-Jacot, a luxury bridal jewelry firm in Europe and Asia. Swiss Primetime, Rutherford, NJ, continues to distribute Swiss luxury and sport brand Bertolucci in the U.S. Tradema, Rutherford, NJ, (877)794-7778, and Swiss Primetime Inc., Rutherford, NJ, (201) 507-4400,
