LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton, the world's leading luxury products group, announced its sales for the first half of 2000 increased 40% compared to the same period last year.
The sales increase was led by the fashion and leather goods division and the selective retailing business group. Watch and jewelry sales demonstrated sustained growth, with TAG Heuer performing well in the U.S., Europe and Asia. LVMH reports sales of the new "Class Elite Dual Time" model by Zenith are strong, as are sales of Chaumet's new "Class One Joaillerie" model.
Sales increases were seen in all of LVMH's markets. The U.S. market showed the strongest growth with an increase of 68%. Sales are up by 37% in Europe and 38% in Asia.
