IWC Hosts On-Line Charity Auction

For the third year, Swiss-based International Watch Company will donate a vintage timepiece for an online auction to benefit charity. From December 4-11, Web surfers can bid on an IWC Yacht Club watch. The Yacht Club was among the company's best-sellers in the 1960s and is still in demand among collectors. The watch features an IWC mechanical movement fitted with its esteemed Pellaton-IWC automatic winding system.

All proceeds will be donated to Amnesty International, the global human rights organization which represents the interests of political prisoners worldwide. Previous IWC online auctions raised funds for the Red Cross and UNICEF. This year, IWC CEO Michael P. Sarp says he expects a five-figure sum to be raised to benefit Amnesty International. He says the charity's "discreet but extremely persistent work deserves all the support it can get." Auction details will be posted on www.iwc.ch beginning November 15.
