Swatch Signs Long-Term Olympic Agreement

The Swatch Group Ltd. will be the official timekeeper and results service partner for the Olympic Games in Athens in 2004, the Olympic Winter Games in Turin in 2006, the 2008 Olympic Games and 2010 Olympic Winter Games.

The agreement marks the first time the International Olympic Committee has entered into a long-term agreement for timing, scoring and venue results services. "The Swatch Group has been a long-standing partner of the Olympic movement, developing the necessary equipment and know-how and continuously training its experts," says IOC President Juan Antonio Samaranch. The Swatch Group brands – including Omega, Longines, Rado, Swatch and others – with few exceptions have been the timekeeper of practically all the modern Olympic Games. Nicolas G. Hayek, chairman of the board and CEO of the Swatch Group, says the games are not only the greatest sports event in the world, but fit perfectly with Swatch's global marketing strategy.
