In a new joint project, the Swatch Group and AOL Time Warner will soon use Internet-enabled watches to promote brands and products from both companies.
Swatch's Net.Invader and the newer Syncro.Beat watches, introduced earlier this year, may be used to store certain AOL and Swatch Web sites, screen names and e-mail, which then could be accessed via the watch. The information will be placed into the watches through a connection device and then accessed at the push of a button.
The multiyear agreement also calls for collaboration on products and promotions involving entertainment, sports and technology. For example, AOL could use Swatch stores for subscriber sales while Swatch places AOL content on its watches. Swatch could use AOL's Internet, television and print networks to promote its 18 brands, which include Swatch, Omega, Longines, Rado, Hamilton, Breguet, cK, Blancpain and Tissot.
