New President Appointed at Seiko Corp. of America
Fumitaka Ueno, a 30-year veteran of Seiko Corp., is the new president of Seiko Corp. of America. Ueno has worked with Seiko in managerial and marketing positions in Japan and France and will arrive in the U.S. in several weeks to begin his tenure at Seiko's U.S. offices in Mahwah, NJ.
He replaces Tsutomu Mitome, who returned to Japan to become the head of the soon-to-be-created Seiko Watch Corp. Seiko Corp. in Tokyo is creating the Seiko Watch Corp. as it divides its core businesses into six subsidiaries. It's set to begin operation July 1. In his new position, Mitome will be responsible for the manufacturing and marketing of Seiko watches worldwide. Other new Seiko subsidiaries manufacture electronics, sporting goods, clocks and other consumer items.
