JIC's Florence Appears on "Today"

Elizabeth Florence, executive director of the Jewelry Information Center, made an appearance on NBC's morning news program "Today" last week to participate in a summer-long wedding series.

"Today" viewers voted for a couple to participate in the wedding series, which will lead viewers through the entire wedding planning process. Florence was on the show with Katie Couric to help the couple discuss wedding band options. The wedding bands – by Fortunoff, Scott Kay, ArtCarved and Cartier – could be viewed at msnbc.com, where online viewers could also vote for the band they liked best. Florence shared background information about each company and discussed the various characteristics of each ring option. The wedding series will culminate in a wedding on Sept. 5 at Rockefeller Plaza in New York City.

JIC's second-quarter publicity activity in broadcast placements is up 400% over the same quarter last year. The group's mission is to promote jewelry generically through public relations. JIC is funded by members from the manufacturing, retailing, association and publishing fields.
