Robert Speisman of Lazare Kaplan Dies in Pentagon Crash

Robert Speisman, director of marketing at Lazare Kaplan International, New York City, died Tuesday when the plane on which he was a passenger crashed into the Pentagon. Several members of the American Gem Society confirmed his death today. Speisman, an AGS Registered Supplier and board member, was flying to the West Coast to attend an AGS board meeting in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The meeting was subsequently canceled.

Several news organizations listed him as a passenger on American Airlines Flight 77, which crashed into the Pentagon at 9:43 a.m. after leaving Washington, DC, en route to Los Angeles. Lazare Kaplan representatives were unavailable for comment today.
