GIA Dinner to Go On With Proceeds to Relief Effort

The Gemological Institute of America announced it will proceed with its scheduled League of Honor Dinner and will donate the proceeds to relief efforts in connection with the terrorist attacks. After speaking with friends and supporters, GIA decided to go ahead with the dinner, scheduled for Oct. 22 at the Plaza Hotel in New York City.

In addition, GIA announced it will establish a diamond program scholarship in memory of Bob Speisman of Lazare Kaplan International, who died in the Pentagon plane crash (see related news). GIA also will participate in eBay's online fundraising project "Auction for America" by donating products from GEM Instruments and the GIA Bookstore.

GIA reports all employees and students in New York City are safe and extends thanks to all who have offered support.
