Two Arrested for Looting WTC Tourneau Store
Two people were arrested last week and charged with stealing $3,700 worth of watches from the Tourneau watch store in the concourse beneath the World Trade Center, the Associated Press reports. A retired corrections officer and another man were arrested Sept. 13.
Police were notified of possible looting by National Guardsmen who were patroling the area, AP reports. The looting appeared to be confined to the Tourneau store and neighboring shops. As of this weekend, no store owners had filed complaints.
The concourse was amazingly intact after the building collapsed. In fact, a clock in the Tourneau store was frozen at 9:10 a.m.
