World Diamond Congress Postponed

The 30th World Diamond Congress, scheduled to be held in Israel from May 20 - 23, 2002, has been postponed. The decision was announced by Shmuel Schnitzer, president of the Israel Diamond Exchange and Uri Schwartz, president of the Israel Diamond Manufacturers Association. The decision was made in coordination with the executive committee of the World Federation of Diamond Bourses and the International Diamond Manufacturers Association.

According to Schnitzer, the sponsoring bodies hope to hold the congress in Israel at a later date during 2002, probably in the autumn. A decision about the date and venue, he said, will be made within the next few weeks. "The Congress is a most important event on the world diamond calendar. The Israel diamond industry is committed to holding the Congress here, and we will make every effort to make it a success," Schnitzer said.
