Morrison to Lead DIC

Sally Morrison, former senior vice president of publicity at Miramax Films and an American Foundation for AIDS Research veteran, joins the Diamond Information Center as director/senior partner, says Richard Lennox, director-in-charge of the diamond group at J. Walter Thompson Co. In her position, Morrison will manage generic public relations activities on behalf of the Diamond Trading Co., the sales and marketing arm of the De Beers Group, throughout the U.S.

Prior to joining DIC, Morrison supervised the communication activity around the international release of 30-40 Miramax and Dimension films. Before taking on that role, she was responsible for the conception and execution of all special events and coordinated the company's participation in philanthropic activities, among other things.

Morrison also spent 14 years with AmFAR, mostly as vice president for external affairs. During her tenure with AmFAR, she developed fundraising and public affairs activities for Elizabeth Taylor, including her introduction of the "Ryan White Care" bill in Congress. Morrison also coordinated "Campaign for AIDS Research," a the three-year fundraising effort headed by Sharon Stone, as well as other fundraising and marketing campaigns.

"We are simply thrilled to have someone with such incredible communications skills and knowledge of the media leading the Diamond Information Center team," says Lennox. "The entire diamond industry will surely benefit from Sally's unrivaled public relations expertise."
