American Salon Folds
The American Salon, a trade show venture launched in July, 2002, by industry consultant Edward Coyne and Andrew Kohler, president of A.B. Kohler, an industry advertising agency, announced that it will not go forward.
The show, according to its organizers, was founded "in response to the demand from a number of exhibitors and retailers searching for an improvement in the way jewelry show business is done." The show was to take place at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center, a new exhibit space in Las Vegas, near the dates of the JCK Show - Las Vegas.
"Unfortunately as the year progressed, the anticipated economic recovery never materialized," said the organizers in a written statement to its exhibitors. "After much careful consideration, it has been determined not to proceed with the show."
