JCK Show Preview

Here's a preview of what trade visitors will find at The JCK Show-Las Vegas at the Sands Expo & Convention Center and related events May 30-June 3 (the educational sessions run May 28-29):

Show Floor Changes
The show floors are reorganized:
• Level 1 (ground level): Antique and Estate Jewelry moves to this level and joins three new pavilions: the Debut Collection, consisting of manufacturers newer to the show; Equipment, Technology & Supplies Pavilion, sponsored by Manufacturing Jewelers & Suppliers of America which includes packaging and accessories; and Stylemaker, what the show calls fashionable jewelry in all the right price points. Also on Level 1 are the international pavilions, now called World's Fair.
• Level 2 (upper level): The Design Center moves upstairs to join the Diamond Plaza, Galleria, Plumb Club, Platinum Pavilion, Times Square and Prestige Promenade. Level 2 will also house a new Luxury Collection pavilion, made up of exhibitors who also exhibit at the pre-show Luxury by JCK. The Luxury Collection, unlike Luxury by JCK, is open to all visitors.
• AGTA's GemFair's Cultured Pearl & Jewelry pavilion, on Level 2 adjacent to the floor, opens one day earlier than the rest of the show. The first day, May 29, also features a full day of seminars on color and fashion, buyer drawings and a lecture from the curator of the Smithsonian Gem Collection. From May 30-June 2, AGTA's section opens each day at 9 a.m., an hour earlier than the main show. This section closes June 2.

Education
The Education Program runs from May 28-30 at the Sands Expo & Convention Center. Once again, the educational offerings were developed by Charlotte Preston Catalysts, White Bear Lake, MN, a consultant who creates educational programs for many events in the industry. This year's courses are presented in five tracks: Vision, Color/Fashion, Business, Diamonds and From the Industry. Various sessions are sponsored by AGTA, the American Gem Society, the Gemological Institute of America, the Platinum Guild International, The Diamond Council of America and the Women's Jewelry Association.

Social Events and Networking
• The JCK Welcome Reception will be held May 29 at the Paris and will feature a product preview and music by The Temptations.
• WJA's 7th Annual Diva Awards will be held May 30 at the Venus Bar of the Venetian to present the group's Diva winners with their awards.
• The 10th Annual Designer Live Auction is moving to Saturday night, May 31, from its old Monday night berth, and changes location to the Guggenheim at the Venetian. It also now includes items from a host of exhibitors, not just those in the Design Center.
• The Jewelers Charity Fund will hold its annual dinner June 1, at the Bellagio, honoring Matthew Runci, president and CEO of Jewelers of America; and Mary Forte, president and CEO of Zale Corp.
