EGL-USA Seeks To Eliminate Illegal Certificates

EGL-USA laboratories alerted the U.S. Bureau of Customs and Border Protection of illegal importing and distributing of gems with unauthorized EGL-USA certificates coming in from outside of the U.S., the lab announced at The JCK Show-Las Vegas. The illegal EGL certificates violate the lab's trademarks in the U.S. and damage consumers through the deception, says EGL-USA attorneys. Four of its labs, in New York, Toronto, Vancouver and Los Angeles, make up the EGL-USA Group.

There are three principal ways to determine if the certificates were issued by a member of the EGL-USA group:
1. "US" or "CA" precedes the certificate number.
2. Each legitimate certificate includes the words: "A Member of the EGL USA Group."
3. Certificate holders can verify their certificates at www.EGLUSA.com.

For more information, call EGL-USA at (212) 730-7380, ext 240; in Canada, call (866) 630-0400.
