Bill Clinton Will Speak at Antwerp Conference
Former U.S. president Bill Clinton will be the featured speaker at the Antwerp Diamond Conference, Nov. 3-4, 2003, in Antwerp, Belgium. The Antwerp Diamond High Council (HRD) organizes the conference, and this year's highlighted topic will be branding and marketing in the diamond industry.
More than 30 speakers will address the two-day gathering, including Gary Ralfe, managing director of De Beers, and Gareth Penny, De Beers' Diamond Trading Co.'s executive director for sales and marketing. Also attending will be Isabelle Guichot, chair general manager of Van Cleef & Arpels; Vladimir Kalitin, president of Alrosa; Ralph Destino, chairman emeritus of Cartier Inc.; Arlette Emch, member of the general management of the Swatch Group; and Nadja Swarovski, vice president of international communication at Swarovski.
The conference will be held at the Province House, the seat of government of the Province of Antwerp. Clintonıs address is scheduled for Nov. 3 at Waagnatie, an industrial warehouse on the banks of the River Scheldt. The warehouse will be converted into a ballroom for the event, HRD says.
During the two-day event, five modules will make up the program:
Module 1: An overview of marketing and branding in the luxury goods sector.
Module 2: A review and discussion by diamond industry entrepreneurs who have already implemented marketing and branding campaigns.
Module 3: Case studies of other luxury goods sectors, such as watch and high-end jewelry.
Module 4: Jewelry retailer discussions about developing relationships with the diamond sector to ensure success of branding and marketing.
Module 5: A focus on the city of Antwerp and its campaign to expand its role as the world's most important diamond trading centers and to further develop its role as a jewelry distribution center in Europe.
